Summary
As an FBI IT Professional, your job is to ensure the workforce has access to the the systems and datastores through developed applications, safeguard our law enforcement systems, and maintain an appropriate security posture for all of our IT systems and service. This means applying your knowledge of computer technology, cyber security, encryption, and more to protect information across the FBI, as well as our domestic and international law enforcement partners.

Duties
GS-07:
Apply troubleshooting methods to assist in maintaining IT Systems
Communicate and implement new software changes
Analyze work processes to determine system requirements and perform maintenance in assigned areas that are of limited of scope and difficulty
GS-09 and GS-11:
Conduct preliminary analysis of current systems to determine the feasibility of new enhancements or automation projects
Develop working relationships with personnel in various functional areas throughout the organization to effectively carry-out and coordinate necessary projects
Provide technical advice to multiple levels of customers
Utilize programming languages to build application software and provide post implementation support including troubleshooting and error resolution with program execution
GS-12:
Assist end-users in a variety of subject matter fields deciding which processes to automate, how to select equipment and software, and how to best use available technology
Lead projects focused on the design, development, and implementation of new system functionality
Perform a variety of complex program analysis functions to advise managers and operational personnel on difficult and/or intricate issues

Must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
Some travel may be required.
Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance may be required. If so, certain disclosure forms will be required.
Qualifications
For you to qualify based on Specialized Experience (SE) alone, you must possess the SE below for the various GS levels. Please ensure all SE can be identified in your resume.
GS-07: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-05 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
Communicated technical information to provide assistance to customers.
Gathered and analyzed system related facts for potential IT enhancements.
Utilized a variety of techniques in order to update or maintain existing IT systems or databases.
GS-09: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-07 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
Communicated technical information to provide assistance to customers.
Maintained existing IT systems utilizing automation software tools.
Utilized database or system administration methods and procedures to monitor and troubleshoot technical issues.
Utilized programming languages and procedures to test and update programs according to detailed requirements.
GS-11: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-09 level. SE is defined as follows:
Applied IT principles, methods, and programming languages focused on the development, testing, and implementation of new software.
Communicated technical and procedural information orally or in writing to provide guidance to customers and management.
Installed, configured, and maintained operating systems and/or databases to include troubleshooting issues or deploying updates and enhancements.
Utilized Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines to update and implement system infrastructure.
GS-12: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-11 level. SE is defined as follows:
Applied IT principles, methods, and programming languages focused on the design, development, testing, and implementation of software.
Created Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines to build, integrate, and maintain software projects.
Documented technical and procedural information in writing to provide IT system guidance and recommendations to various levels of personnel.
Installed, configured, and maintained operating systems or databases to include troubleshooting issues, making updates, and utilizing backup recovery techniques to secure data.
Education
All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Education may be substituted for SE as follows:
Degrees must be in one of the following fields: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
GS-07: Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement or one (1) full year of graduate level education. Superior academic achievement is the completion of all the requirements of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average of 3.0 or higher as recorded on an official transcript, or as based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum, or (3) honor society membership.
GS-09: Applicant must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
GS-11: Applicant must have a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.
GS-12: Education cannot be substituted for SE at this level.
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
